Description
Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion spent most of his Hall of Fame (1972) NHL career as a right winger for the Montreal Canadiens. His first full season with Montreal, the 1951-52 campaign, Geoffrion earned honors as the winner of the Calder Trophy for being selected as the top rookie that year. During the 1952-53 season, Geoffrion earned his first etching on Lord Stanley's Cup. Geoffrion was also a member of the great Montreal dynasty that won 5 consecutive Cups in the latter half of the fifties. During the 1960-61 season, Geoffrion walked away with the Hart Trophy and the Art Ross Trophy. After retiring in 1964, Geoffrion later returned to the NHL as a player with the New York Rangers then as their coach. Geoffrion then held coaching stints in Atlanta, and then for 30 games in Montreal.
